Gravestone Rubbings

Today we finally got around to doing rubbings at the local cemetary.

We used tracing paper and painters tape to gently affix the paper to interesting tombstones.  Then we used conte crayons to bring up the images.

It helped to hold the crayon on its side and press hard.

For some, we moved the page around to add different images.

We came across this lovely shelf mushroom specimen that had fallen off a rotting tree. We took it home to add to Kieran's fairy garden. It will make a great fairy swimming pool.

This was a nice headstone - simple and handmade.
